Baldwin Boys’ MindMasters 2024, an eagerly anticipated chess tournament organized by Baldwin Boys’ High School in collaboration with Derik’s Chess School, concluded successfully at Lincoln Hall on January 13, 2024. The event featured exceptional strategic prowess in four categories: Under 8, 10, 13, and 16.

Standout achievements came from Kemin Chris Rayan, Ishan Bhansali, and Joel Mathew Palemootil of St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Yug Tarun Khiani from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School securing top honors in Under 8, 10, 16 and 13 Open categories.

Recognizing team excellence, St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, New Horizons Public School, and host school Baldwin Boys’ High School claimed the top three positions, showcasing both individual brilliance and collective commitment to competitive chess.

The event drew 170 players from 15 schools, each contributing a unique dimension to the chess arena. Mrs. Leena Daniel, Principal of Baldwin Boys’ High School, presided over the prize distribution ceremony, joined by Mr. Deric Pinto, Founder of Derik’s Chess School.

Earlier in the morning during Inaugural ceremony, Mrs. Leena Daniel welcomed attendees, praising students’ unwavering passion for chess and highlighting its manifold benefits. Dr. Ronald Anil Fernandes, a distinguished member of KPSC, formally inaugurated the tournament, emphasizing the profound academic advantages chess offers young minds.

Rev. Sebestian Ravi Kumar, Manager of Baldwin Boys’ High School, added a spiritual touch, invoking blessings on participants and emphasizing the holistic development fostered by intellectual pursuits.

In summary, Baldwin Boys’ MindMasters 2024 celebrated the triumphs of young chess prodigies, emphasizing the profound impact of strategic thinking on academic and personal development.
