The team at Derik’s Chess School has been a partner in the development of our children’s chess and tournament acumen since 2003. Our school is a pioneer in chess, thanks to Derik’s Chess School Chess is a household name in Bantwal now. Here we have conducted many inter district and national chess events. Our school team members have represented Karnataka state and won School Games Federation of India. Our notable players are Kripa Jain, Swathy Bhat, Govind Prabhu, Shashanka Maiya, Seema Crasta, Riyola Dsouza, Vignesh Kamath, Suraksha Rao, Sreevathsa Acharya, Chaitra Rao, Srujana C Bhandary. Coach Prasanna has been instrumental in the evolution of our kids as chess players. Our children genuinely enjoy their interactions with the coaches. Derik’s Chess School has been taking classes for our students from 1st to 8th grade from 2017-18. Our children have benefitted a lot from these classes, and our school team is actively engaged in inter-school tournaments post association with Derik’s Chess School We are grateful to Derik’s Chess School for their efforts in bringing out the best in our students and we wish to continue associating with them in the future years to come.

Derik’s Chess school has been successfully conducting Chess classes to our students for more than 10 years. Over the years our students have developed a liking for the chess class. Derik’s Chess School has been taking regular classes for our students. Few students have emerged champions in inter-school tournaments and won several state level tournaments. Derik’s Chess School transformed the cityscape of Mangalore by pioneering chess in schools as far back in 2001 Since its inception in 2001, I had the privilege of introducing chess as one of the extra- scholastic activities in Lourdes Central School when I was heading the school as the Founding Principal. Our students mastered chess within the shortest period of time and went on to bag Gold in CBSE nationals and win accolades in national and international events during my tenure of 12 academic years. In St Aloysius Gonzaga School, where again I was the founding Principal, chess was elevated to a prestigious and enviable level and was a source of inspiration to other schools too am happy to introduce and integrate chess in school curriculum from the academic year 2022-2023 in Sri Sharada Public School, Annigeri where I have been guiding the school as Academic Advisor since 2016. With the primary goal of teaching chess to the students, right from the basic level to organizing chess tournaments at both the National and International levels, Derik’s Chess School has left no stone unturned in achieving its goal.
